PARENTAL GUIDANCE
Parenting is one of the most meaningful and challenging roles a person can take on. There is no single right way to parent, and most parents are doing the best they can with the tools, experiences, and understanding they have at the time. My work as a psychologist is to support parents in developing the insight, confidence, and emotional understanding needed to be the support their children truly need.
Children thrive when they feel seen, understood, and safely guided by the adults in their lives. Often, what children need most is not perfection, but parents who are willing to reflect, grow, and remain emotionally present. I work collaboratively with parents to explore their child’s emotional world, behaviour, and developmental needs, while also recognising the parent’s own experiences, stresses, and strengths.
In our work together, I aim to guide parents toward becoming the kind of parents who can support their children’s growth without shaping them into who they are “supposed” to be. This means helping parents respond thoughtfully rather than reactively, set boundaries with care, and remain connected even during moments of conflict or uncertainty.
Parent work also involves creating space for children to become their own unique people. When parents feel supported and understood, they are better able to allow their children to develop their own identities, emotions, and ways of being in the world — while still feeling safely held within the family.
Through reflection, guidance, and practical support, my goal is to help parents feel more grounded and confident in their role, and to create relationships in which children can thrive emotionally, build resilience, and grow into themselves with trust and security.
